It is important to test a gemstone for its true nature. There are some common, simple and easy techniques that can determine whether a gemstone is real or fake. Because there is no major difference in the appearance, it sometimes gets difficult to distinguish between a real gemstone and a fake one.

One of the ways to distinguish between real and fake gemstones is the difference in the physical appearance. Fake gemstones are synthesized in laboratories due to which they look perfect than the real gemstone. Moreover, fake gemstones look more shiny and sparkling due to the laboratory process. On the other hand, the real gemstones do not sparkle and shine much due to its natural qualities. 

Another way to determine a real gemstone is by weighting it. Real gemstone weighs lesser than the fake one. Again this is because; a synthetic gemstone becomes denser during the laboratory process. However, people may think the real gemstones should weigh more than a synthetic one.

 Lastly, a common way to identify the nature of a gemstone is by its price. Sometimes, people get convinced to believe that they have got a real gemstone for a cheap price, however, that is almost impossible to find a real gemstone for a cheap price. It is because, the synthetic gemstones are produced in a huge amount in laboratories, and on the other hand, real gemstones are difficult to be found in such a huge amount in the natural environment. Hence, the real gemstones are limited in the market and their price is always high compared to that of a synthetic gemstone.
